Did you know that St. Matthew’s House was founded 1988 by seven churches and a synagogue? Inspired by a passage in the Gospel of Matthew (Matthew 25:31-46), these religious organizations established the original St. Matthew’s House soup kitchen in order to serve people Jesus called “the least of these.”
Last Sunday, November 22, 2020, at least four of these churches—following the Common Lectionary—delivered sermons on the Gospel passage that inspired the founding of St. Matthew’s House.
