As the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club prepares to be redeveloped, it’s being gutted for demolition which first means removing all the furniture and other items from inside. The Athens Group who recently acquired the property to redevelop chose to donate the items to local nonprofits, including St. Matthew’s House.
“It’s really about giving back to the community,” said Jay Newman, Chief Operating Officer for The Athens Group. “And it’s always great when you can do this around Thanksgiving because that’s a time for all of us to reflect and make a difference in people’s lives.”
This generous donation provided furniture for over 25 rooms, which will be a tremendous asset to our Port LaBelle Inn and Conference Center. We also received dinnerware, linens and chafing dishes for Delicious By Design. The Port LaBelle Inn & Conference Center as well as our Delicious By Design catering company are just two of the social enterprises run by St. Matthew’s House.
“It’s really going to help us further our mission,” said Jamie Shedden, Director of Retail Operations. “I can’t thank The Athens Group enough for what they’ve done. It’s been such a blessing to St. Matthew’s House.”
