Each month, Spotlight brings you the latest organizational news, event highlights and opportunities to get involved.

First, we want to give a massive thank you to everyone who participated in our Summer Match Campaign! We hit our goal sooner than anticipated raising more than $800,000 for our programs.

We’re also excited to share that we have been selected as the local charity partner for the 2026-27 Nash to Naples Songwriter Fest . Founded by Carter Hamric and Mitch Vanderhagen, Nash to Naples is a one-of-a-kind singer-songwriter festival featuring multiple events throughout Naples. A portion of the proceeds will benefit St. Matthew’s House. If you’re interested in learning about sponsorship opportunities, you can email events@stmatthewshouse.org .

Finally, we want to share a unique volunteer opportunity with you. Our Workforce Development Program helps individuals build valuable skills and relaunch their careers. As we prepare to relaunch and expand the program this fall, we’re seeking volunteers to serve in the classrooms. Volunteer commitments are expected to be two days per week for approximately one hour each day. If you’re interested in making a meaningful impact, please contact volunteer@stmatthewshouse.org .

Former golf star overcomes troubled past through St. Matthew’s House in Southwest Florida

St. Matthew’s House participant Coleman said, “I started playing golf when I was seven with my dad and my grandad. I was pretty good at it. They encouraged me to keep playing, so I did that. I could have gone to college on a scholarship, but I decided to take a year off, and that’s when I started getting in trouble.”

Later this month, August 31, is International Overdose Awareness Day . We encourage you to research and learn about the stigma surrounding overdose and how we can all work together to mitigate its presence in our community.

Our next event to mark on your calendars is our 50 th Justin’s Place Recovery Program Graduation on November 12! You do not want to miss this evening of celebration and transformation.

Outdoor Outreach Meal Servers

Volunteers help serve meals to approximately 60-80 homeless individuals every day through our outdoor outreach. We are so grateful for these volunteers who show up in the heat and humidity to provide this critical service to those in need.

It’s more than just serving a meal, it’s building trust and providing a safe space for people to arrive on their own terms and learn more about other resources available through our staff and community partners.

This back porch is the start of many journeys from crisis to contributor.
