St. Matthew’s House earns top honors from Charity Navigator, Best Christian Workplace Institute, and Citygate Network

NAPLES, FL (April 8, 2019) – St. Matthew’s House, Southwest Florida’s foremost provider of homeless services and addiction recovery programs, earned top ratings from three prominent nonprofit evaluators. St. Matthew’s House earned Charity Navigator‘s highest possible 4-star rating, top honors from Best Christian Workplace Institute, and a certification of excellence from Citygate Network.

Vann Ellison, President and CEO of St. Matthew’s House said, “We are both honored and humbled to be recognized by these great organizations and it gives us enormous satisfaction to see the hard work and dedication of our 240 employees acknowledged in these ways.” Charity Navigator is the largest and most-visited evaluator of nonprofit organizations in America. Only a quarter of the more than 9,000 charitable organizations evaluated earn their top 4-star rating. In order to earn this distinction, St. Matthew’s House demonstrated exceptional transparency, accountability, and good governance. It is the first time that Charity Navigator has evaluated St. Matthew’s House.

For the second straight year in a row, Best Christian Workplace Institute certified St. Matthew’s House as a “Best Christian Workplace.” This honor is given to participating organizations based on anonymous staff surveys. Their results, the most widely used Christian-based workplace culture survey, ranked St. Matthew’s House among the top in the country.

St. Matthew’s House Vice President of Human Capital, Kiley Tyler, said, “We are so proud to be a Best Christian Workplace again. It says so much about the wonderful work culture we foster here when our employee surveys come back with such positive results.”

Citygate Network, the leading international association of rescue missions, representing over 300 direct social service charities throughout North America, awarded St. Matthew’s House their Certificate of Excellence.  It is the first time St. Matthew’s House has been certified by Citygate Network and involved a 360-degree look at the organization and a thorough audit of all their facilities, policies and procedures, and financial records.

St. Matthew’s House COO, Steve Brooder, said, “Citygate certification represents the gold standard for rescue missions nationwide. I am very proud to earn the top level of recognition for our first certification.”

All of these accolades were conferred during March or April 2019.
