The Common Kitchen

The Common Kitchen
at St. Matthew’s House
*This program is temporarily on hold to maintain health and safety. We will resume this volunteer opportunity as soon as it is safe to do so.* The Common Kitchen is a new volunteer opportunity at St. Matthew’s House. Not only will you prep, serve, and clean dinner for up to 400 guests, you’ll develop your menu alongside The Common Kitchen coordinators, as well as provide all the food for the evening. You’ll work with a small group of no more than 10 volunteers, ensuring a close-knit environment where you’ll get to know and serve with one another.
The best part about having The Common Kitchen, which also functions as St. Matthew’s House kitchen for our feeding ministry, program residents, catering company, and daily lunches, is that we’ll eat around a common table. At the end of the day, we hope this experience provides a look into the reality that we are all more similar than we are different; just people that are ready for a good meal.
For those struggling to survive on the streets, having a warm, nutritious meal is often the first step to recovery. St. Matthew’s House is the largest meal provider in Collier County – offering two hot meals a day, seven days a week. We serve an average of 1,700 meals a day to men, women and children at our various shelters.
You can partner with us in serving those in greatest need by organizing a group of volunteers from your church, restaurant or place of business provide a meal through The Common Kitchen. Please inquire about the allowable number of volunteers in your group as it will vary according to where you choose to serve.
