Reverend McKinnon has studied Pastoral Leadership & Theology at Christ for the Nations Institute, the Michigan School of Ministry and Global University and is also Certified as a Living Free Recovery Group Facilitator. John’s eclectic experiences in business, ministry and education have equipped him in a unique way to effectively serve in the role as VP of Recovery Programs.
The most significant factor contributing to his success in helping the addicted, is that he too comes from a background of recovery. In 2005, after years of substance abuse he found himself crying out to Jesus, asking Him to spare his life from a near fatal overdose. John committed that if God saved him, he would serve the Lord all of his days. On June 1st, 2005 John stepped foot into a year-long Christian Recovery Program where he found HOPE in Jesus, FREEDOM from addiction and a NEW LIFE full of purpose and blessing!
John married his lovely wife Rachel in 2007 and the couple have 2 wonderful children, Nolan & Natalie. The McKinnon Family is extremely grateful for the privilege of being a part of St. Matthew’s House!
