Vice President of Recovery Programs
Dwayne Gordon is the Vice President of Recovery Programs at St. Matthew’s House in Naples, Florida.
Previously Dwayne served as the Bloomington Area Director for Wheeler Mission Ministries located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ordained in 2006, he founded Hebron Community Church and earned his BS in Biblical Studies before pursuing his MBA in Social Entrepreneurship and Nonprofit Management. Having experienced life before Christ, Dwayne has a special interest in Discipleship, Individual Development, and most importantly, helping others overcome life-dominating sin and addiction through a relationship with Christ, the application of Biblical Principles, and development of gifts and talents.
Originally from New Jersey, Dwayne joined the Army Military Police Corps directly out of High School and deployed several times from his home base in Ft. Hood Texas. At age 18, he experienced extreme 3rd world poverty while stationed at a remote mountain location in Honduras. Families with mountain sickness and no where to bathe left a lasting impression on him.
Post Military, Dwayne worked as the Director of Sales for two oversees software companies specializing in data encryption and security. He says, “I thought I was successful, but I had a dark cloud of materialism, pride, and self-centeredness surrounding me – eventually I would be exposed as a selfish, bad husband and a seeker of pleasure”.
Dwayne experienced a life transformation through an encounter with God, His Word, and His people.
“I love to join a Biblical worldview to everyday concepts, like entrepreneurship, in order to help others achieve purpose and meaning. Although Christian community is an essential to successful programming, we are a “city on a hill that should not be hidden” and should serve all people regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, sin, etc., but be shrewd in doing so while maintaining Godly stewardship over our flock”.
