Naples, FL — August 19, 2022 — St. Matthew’s House CEO Steve Brooder has announced that St. Matthew’s House has relocated their food distribution warehouse to 4535 Domestic Avenue in Collier County. The new warehouse has increased freezer capacity for perishables, significantly increasing efficiency in storing food for distribution. It also has a choice pantry.
The new choice pantry is a pilot program and is for those who cannot get to regular St. Matthew’s House food distributions. It includes staples as well as ready-to-go meals such as pre-packaged sandwiches, salads and selected other items, fresh produce, meat and a variety of dairy products. Pantry hours are Monday through Thursday, and the second Saturday of each month, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pre-registration and appointments are required by visiting www.stmatthewshouse.org or calling (239) 326-0151.
The new 10,000-square-foot warehouse was made possible by a generous grant from the Schulze Family Foundation. “St. Matthew’s House is deeply grateful to the Schulze Family Foundation for making this new food distribution warehouse possible,” says Brooder. “It greatly expands our capacity for serving our neighbors who are experiencing food insecurity.”
Brooder notes that St. Matthew’s House currently distributes 20,000 to 25,000 bags of groceries a month, and the needs are growing. “In addition to economic impacts from the Pandemic that are still affecting vulnerable individuals and families, inflation is creating tremendous additional financial stress for them,” says Brooder. “We thank our community partners and donors for joining with St. Matthew’s House in our work to provide hope and help to individuals and families facing some of life’s harshest realities and challenges.”
