The shortage of baby formula has been an ongoing crisis across the country, and our little corner of Southwest Florida is no exception. Families search far and wide just to find the supplies they need to keep their babies fed.
For the past couple of months, we’ve been on the receiving end of phone calls from desperate parents looking for help. So, in an effort to do our part and be helpful to our community, St. Matthew’s House, in partnership with local partners like Midwest Food Bank, conducted a special distribution to pass out baby formula, baby food, diapers and more to our neighbors in need.
Long before the distribution even began, cars were lining up at Lely Elementary School to fill their trunk with much-needed essentials. By the end of the distribution, we were able to distribute formula to 100 families, baby food to 300 families and provide groceries to many more.
