For months, St. Matthew’s House has seen the need for food assistance grow across Southwest Florida as food prices continue to rise. Unfortunately, that trend doesn’t seem to be slowing any time soon.
There are just as many (if not more) people needing food assistance now. Because of the increased costs of basic grocery items, money doesn’t go as far, affecting both families and the food banks. Now, people who come through the weekly food distribution lines may only get a couple of days worth of food instead of a week’s worth like they may have received previously.
Despite the continuing struggles, the St. Matthew’s House food distribution team remains steadfast in their work determined to keep people from going hungry across Southwest Florida.
