Inflation and rising food costs are causing grocery prices to continue surging creating an even greater need for food assistance.
St. Matthew’s House conducts many food drives every month with our mobile food pantry to try to alleviate some of the pressure people may face like deciding between purchasing medication or putting dinner on the table. But as prices for grocery items (proteins and produce especially) rise, it makes it difficult for even food pantries to obtain them for distribution.
It’s a tough cycle, but with continued support and prayers, St. Matthew’s House remains hopeful that the prices will come down eventually. And until then, we’ll continue providing supplemental food assistance for the less fortunate in communities across Southwest Florida.
