The need for food assistance continues to grow as we enter a busy fall season. Schools started up again, which, for many families, means additional costs. To help alleviate the increased need for food, Lorna McLain, Food Assistance Manager, decided to conduct a “Fill the Truck” food drive.
The idea is simple: we meet you where you shop to make it easy for you to donate items to our food pantry. So while you’re grocery shopping, you can pick up a few non-perishable items and then drop the items off in one of our bins as soon as you exit the store.
“Our goal is to have 10 bins filled to the top,” Lorna said. “If we fill 10 bins, we’ll be able to feed 20,000 families!”
The first food drive took place on Saturday, September 25, and it went great. Check out a recap video below.
