Earlier this week, St. Matthew’s House partnered with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office Youth Relations Bureau’s “You Can Do It All” program, which empowers 5th Grade Elementary School Girls to build self-confidence and poise to help them transition to middle school the following year.
This multi-faceted, learning event also featured a tour of the St. Matthew’s House’s Food Warehouse, where the young ladies packed food into boxes for those in need in our community.
Each participant receives a shirt. Together, the class members tie-dye their shirts to demonstrate that we are the same but also unique individuals.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office Youth Relations Bureau’s “You Can Do It All!” program launched in 2019. The program’s goal is to set a strong foundation for success.
Deputies inspire participants by teaching them essential life skills that will help them succeed. With support from our community partners, deputies teach participants how to cope with everyday stress through meditation, breathing techniques, and yoga. Deputies also provide participants with knowledge and tools to help them practice self-care, build self-esteem, and instill pride and confidence. They also learn manners and etiquette to develop poise. The program strives to instill the importance of supporting and encouraging others.
The YCDIA program also works on team-building activities, teaches internet safety, along with defensive techniques and basic lifesaving skills such as CPR / 911. The program also stresses the importance of having hobbies, participating in extracurricular activities, and volunteering in the community.
Our Youth Relations Deputies are dedicated to the “You Can Do It All!” program and they understand the importance of teaching the future generation to be strong and independent individuals. “Be the change you wish to see in the world!”
