Dear Friend,
As I write this, we are coming off of a successful holiday season at St. Matthew’s House. We were able to serve over 12,000 meals between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our community, we were able to distribute a record number of turkeys, over 3,300!
Our successes are often bittersweet. When we serve a record number of people, that means there is more need in our community. And the need continues well past the holiday season into the new year.
When you donate to St. Matthew’s House all of your contribution goes to life-saving programs. Because of our social enterprises, we’re able to cover all our staff salaries and administrative costs, so every penny you give today goes straight to providing shelter, meals, and recovery for people in need right here in our community.
“It made me 100% debilitated,
I was completely broken.”

Your support helps transform the lives of people like Jerome. At one time, he was a social worker at a nonprofit, helping to care for dozens of residents. Unfortunately like too many of our neighbors, Jerome fell to the temptation of drugs. “It made me 100% debilitated,” Jerome said, “I was completely broken.”
This hard-working man’s misery led him to call a suicide hotline, where he got their attention by saying: “If you hear a gun go off my body is going to hit the floor.”
That fateful call led to Jerome entering a drug rehab program. When he finished, he had to choose between being discharged to the streets or staying clean and sober at St. Matthew’s House. He chose us, and recently completed our culinary arts program!
Now he works full-time for St. Matthew’s House overseeing the food deliveries made to our homeless shelter. This job allowed him to move out of the shelter and into a house. His story was covered by Fox4 News. Jerome is a real success story—one of many we have seen this year!
“St. Matthew’s House has helped me gain self-control,” he says today.
So many others are facing difficult choices…Buy food, or a bus pass?…Sleep on a bench, or walk all night to stay safe?…Stay with an abuser, or take the kids to St. Matthew’s House? As we approach the end of the year, won’t you consider a gift to help support the life-changing work of St. Matthew’s House?
