14th Annual Cars on 5th Breaks Record of Previous Fundraising Efforts
With nearly $250,000 in contributions, the 14th edition of Cars on 5th set a single-day collection record, breaking the previous year’s record by almost $25,000. All proceeds from the event go directly to St. Matthew’s House, where 100% of donations are used for life-saving and life-changing programs in Southwest Florida. This year’s contributions break the million-dollar mark of total money raised since the event’s inception. Over the past 14 years, event attendees and individual contributions to the event’s featured charities have raised over $1,050,000.
At 9 AM on Saturday, March 3, St. Matthew’s House, the Ferrari Club of Naples, and other car groups participating in Cars on 5th will host a brief check presentation ceremony. The event will be held at the St. Matthew’s House’s Naples shelter on 2001 Airport Road South, Naples, FL 34112. This event is open to the press and representatives of all groups will be there for interviews.
“As we’ve said over the last few years, this event is so much more than just a car show,” said Vann Ellison, President and CEO of St. Matthew’s House. “Our organization is able to take 100% of the proceeds from Cars on 5th and put it right back into the community. Without a doubt, the contributions from Cars on 5th directly impact lives of the most vulnerable among us. It is amazing to witness the kindness and charity of businesses, nonprofits, and the community’s residents when diverse talents and abilities come together for an important cause,” continued Ellison. For over 30 years, St. Matthew’s House has fought homelessness, hunger, substance abuse, and poverty in Southwest Florida.
“We are thrilled with the spirit of giving from the Naples area residents and visitors”, said Tom O’Riordan, President of the Ferrari Club of America, Naples. “We set records for cars, the crowd, and for fundraising. A special thank you to the major sponsors, Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee, Ferrari of Tampa Bay, and Bank of America. I would also like to thank the various clubs that helped assemble the great collection of cars: Porsche Club of America, AACA, CCCA, British Car Club of SW Florida, Cool Cruisers, German Car Club, Corvettes of Naples, West Coast Muscle Car Club, Alfa Romeo Club, and The Ferrari Club of America. The money raised by us is donated in the names of all of the clubs.”
