Thirteenth Annual Cars on 5th Raises Record Amount for Local Charity
Over 40,000 auto enthusiasts attended the 13th annual Cars on 5th event in downtown Naples on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017.
With nearly $225,000 in contributions, the 13th edition of Cars on 5th set a single-day collection record. The event supports the community and donates all proceeds to St. Matthew’s House. Donations from the attendees and individual contributions to the event’s featured charities have raised over $800,000 over the past 13 years.
“This event is far reaching in our community, it’s much more than just a car show,” said Vann Ellison, President and CEO of St. Matthew’s House. “When businesses, charities, and the community’s residents gather together annually for Cars on 5th, it shows what a positive difference the combination of our efforts can make.” Local businesses report five to six times the normal sales for a day during the event. For over 30 years, St. Matthew’s House has fought homelessness, hunger, substance abuse, and poverty in Southwest Florida.
“We are thrilled with the spirit of giving from the Naples area residents and visitors”, said Tom O’Riordan, President of the Ferrari Club of America, Naples. “We set records for cars (576), the crowd, and for fundraising. A special thank you to the major sponsors, Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee, Ferrari of Tampa Bay, and Bank of America. I would also like to thank the various clubs that helped assemble the great collection of cars: Porsche Club of America, AACA, CCCA, British Car Club of SW Florida, Cool Cruisers, German Car Club, Corvettes of Naples, West Coast Muscle Car Club, Alfa Romeo Club, and The Ferrari Club of America. The money raised by us is donated in the names of all of the clubs.”
