Justin's Place...just in time
Fifty percent of the homeless population suffers from substance abuse. Addressing and overcoming these issues is essential in transitioning people from homelessness back to independent, productive members of society once again. Clients come to understand that rehabilitation is a long term commitment, and that recovery is a journey, not a destination.
Justin's Place is a faith-based nine-month program incorporating the 12 Steps and their biblical comparisons (using Celebrate Recovery core curriculum that helps clients overcome their hurts, habits, and hang-ups). Participation is voluntary and is open to all male residents of St. Matthew's House.
There are two phases to Justin's Place Recovery Program. The first six months, clients participate in an intensive regimen where personal accountability is key, and the last two weeks are comprised of "life skills" classes. In Phase II, clients move into transitional housing, where they seek to gain employment, and transition into an independent lifestyle.
