St. Matthew’s House Supports Collier County Community During Brush Fires

St. Matthew’s House is supporting the community’s efforts to help those directly affected by the brush fires in Collier County. With our Naples shelter and SMH Catering, St. Matthew’s House has temporarily expanded its available beds to accommodate the displaced residents of Collier County and provided meals to serve the first responders helping to contain and extinguish the fires.
“In the event of an emergency due to fire, flood, or wind, St. Matthew’s House always opens its doors as an emergency shelter to people displaced from their homes,” said Vann Ellison, President and CEO of St. Matthew’s House. “While our shelter beds are always full, we can temporarily make room for more people in our shelter dining room if the need arises.”
“This morning we were able to serve breakfast to fire fighters, EMTs, and deputies from volunteer, county, state and national fire service and first responders,” reported Steve Brooder, Vice President of Operations at St. Matthew’s House. SMH Catering Executive Chef Kristofer Jubinville and St. Matthew’s House staff brought breakfast to the first responders at the Collier County Sheriff’s Office command center located at the southwest corner of Davis Boulevard and State Route 951. The smoke was very thick when the team arrived, but was lifting by 10 AM.
