Reverend Vann R. Ellison
President & CEO
Vann R. Ellison is President and CEO of St. Matthew’s House. He is responsible for the successful operations of all of St. Matthew’s House efforts, leading the organization in meeting the annual goals and objectives as approved by the Board of Directors.
Previously Mr. Ellison was the Senior Chaplain at the Collier County Sheriff’s Office; Director of Marketing, ManorCare; Executive Director, The Assembly Center, First Assembly of God; and Program Director at The Willough at Naples. Before coming to Naples, Florida, Mr. Ellison was Director of The Willough at Huntsville (Alabama); Counselor and Assistant Director of Outpatient Care at Palmview HMA Hospital in Lakeland, Florida, and Youth Pastor at Mt. Zion Assembly of God Church in Plant City, Florida.
Reverend Ellison has appeared on numerous television and radio programs as an expert in issues on hunger, homelessness, human trafficking, and drug addiction. He is a regular contributor to Townhall.com and his writing has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, the Naples Daily News, the Orlando Sentinel, the Tallahassee Democrat, the Daily Caller, and in other online and print publications.
Born in Raleigh, North Carolina and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Mr. Ellison attended Southeastern College in Lakeland, FL with a major in Theology. He is a former Scoutmaster and a member of the National Eagle Scout Association. Mr. Ellison has served as Chairman of the Board of the Collier County Hunger and Homeless Coalition. During Vann’s tenure at St. Matthew’s House, the organization received the 2015 Harvey Kapnick award presented by the Community Foundation of Collier County for most outstanding nonprofit in Collier County.
Mr. Ellison’s career and calling have allowed him to counsel and care for all facets of our society. He often speaks of how grateful he is to be involved with St. Matthew’s House and to help give a home to the homeless, food to the hungry and above all, hope to the hopeless. Vann lives with his wife and four boys in Naples.

Vice President of Operations
Steven Brooder is the Vice President of Operations for St. Matthew’s House. He oversees all Social Enterprises as well as Shelter Operations, Accounting, HR and IT departments, Facilities Planning and Growth Management and Career Development and Job Placement. Mr. Brooder has over thirty years of for profit and nonprofit management experience in operations, sales and marketing, finance and accounting, planning and budgeting and development. In the past, he has served as Director of Strategic Initiatives and Regional Director for two International Companies.
He has been active with nonprofit groups to contract with NGOs in host countries to provide highly skilled workers, develop sustainable housing for the most disadvantaged areas around the world, start urban gardens in blighted areas and help homeless families with school age children.
Before moving to Southwest Florida in 2002, Mr. Brooder was the Managing Partner of Royce International, an International Marketing Consulting firm for fifteen years. He also served as Vice President for a large statewide trade association. He is a graduate of Penn State University and earned his MBA at Gannon University.
Steven and his wife Kathleen reside in Fort Myers. Kathleen serves in the Care Ministry of their Church. Their daughter is a Major in the USAF, married to a Lt. Colonel in the USAF and their son works for AT&T.

Director of Development
Fawn Volkert is the Director of Development for St. Matthew’s House. She comes to the organization with over 20 years of nonprofit experience. Fawn has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services and a Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management in Philanthropy. Prior to joining the St. Matthew’s House team, Fawn served as an Independent Consultant to new and small nonprofit organizations, helping them to implement current best practices and establish longevity and credibility within their communities. Professionally, Fawn has served in various other leadership roles but finds the faith-based and ethical environment of St. Matthew’s House most rewarding.
Fawn is passionate about her life as a mother and wife and feels drawn to work with vulnerable populations. For her, serving as an encourager in the lives of the hurting and broken is an opportunity to give what she has been so blessed to receive.

Director of Shelter Programs

Ray comes to St. Matthew’s House from Lakeland Florida where he was a regional manager for a small regional electronics retailer with 70+ employees and 12 locations throughout central and southwest Florida. In addition, he served as the Director of Children’s Ministry for Without Walls Central in Lakeland, FL for five years, and he is a graduate of the Master Pastor Internship Program. He, along with his wife, moved to Naples in March of 2012 and has been a part of St. Matthew’s House since that time. He is very proud of his two children and grandson. Ray enjoys walking on the beach with his lovely wife, playing golf, and game night with his family and friends.

Director of Thrift Operations
As General Manager of the House of Treasures Thrift Stores, Mr. Shedden oversees all operations, including budgeting, pricing, employee management, marketing, sales, training, store layout and staffing. Since his arrival in 2005, both the Naples and Bonita Springs Thrift Stores have been named the area’s best by the Naples Daily News. Mr. Shedden is also actively involved in volunteer recruitment for all aspects of St. Matthew’s House. In 2007, he co-founded the Southwest Florida Association of Thrift Stores.
Prior to St. Matthew’s House, Mr. Shedden owned and operated a Naples-based Christian bookstore Heavenbound Books, Music and More from 1993-2005. During this time, he was named a Top Five Christian Bookstore Manager in the USA by Spring Arbor Distributors in 1997. Before Heavenbound, Mr. Shedden managed another Christian retail store and worked in his family’s contracting business.
A Naples native, Mr. Shedden graduated from Naples Christian Academy in 1980 and worked in various aspects of Christian ministry throughout the eighties, including street ministry and playing music in a Christian band. Mr. Shedden lives in Naples with his wife and two children.

Executive Chef – SMH Catering
Kristofer began his culinary career studying at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island and graduated with an A.S. in Culinary Arts and a B.S. in Food Service Management in 1999.
Kristofer’s career advanced in 2009 to be Culinary Supervisor in Tanglewood Restaurant, where he was instrumental in bringing that restaurant to the next level.
In late 2010, Kristofer and his wife, Patricia, purchased Trail Café and Grill of North Naples. His influence is shown clearly in the selections on the menu. A mix of Southern favorites and Traditional European dishes grace the menu, allowing a taste of both worlds. This eclectic mix provides a gastronomic experience that will satisfy all appetites.
Before accepting the position of Executive Chef, Kristofer had volunteered his talent and time to the kitchen of St. Matthew’s House, supporting its mission to feed the hungry. In 2013, he accepted a position as the Executive Chef for our feeding ministry and SMH Catering. Kristofer passionately delivers dignified meals to every man, woman, and child who call St. Matthew’s House home.
Kristofer has been married for 10 years and has three dogs. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends. His hobbies include cooking, cigars and playing golf.
